Mike Shulfer

My dad was a wood sawyer with the CCCs from 1935 to 1939.  He never spoke highly of those days.  It was difficult work; hot summers and harsh winters, illnesses and injuries.  Yet, he saved these 90 photos, perhaps for  the camaraderie.

Here is his glimpse of the Greatest Generation.  A glimpse into a group of underprivileged kids trying to survive during the Great Depression.  Here is my tribute to him, and to the nearly forgotten part of Americana: The Civilian Conservation Corps.
